Amazing Aotearoa🐣

Summer learning journey , Week one Activity #1

  Amazing Aotearoa...

I made this presentation in under half an hour, using Pontchartrain. Piktochart is a fun and easy way to present any type work.
But if you are looking for other sites that you might eb able to present on, I would suggest,

Canva, Flip-snap, Prezi and powtoon.

I found this really easy to put together. But maybe putting some things in my own words were a bit hard.

  1. Kia ora Jedi,

Welcome back to another year of the Summer Learning Journey (SLJ). My name is Hazel, and I am part of the SLJ team based in Auckland. You might remember when I came to speak to you at your school last year?

Congratulations on an AWESOME first post. I have never seen Piktochart before, but I might have to look into it. I really like that you included links to sites where people can find more facts about New Zealand.

One of my favourite facts about New Zealand is that we are one of only two countries in the world that has two official national anthems (the other one is Denmark). Our anthems are 'God Defend New Zealand' and 'God Save the Queen'. Have you heard them both? Which one do you think is better?

I look forward to reading more of your posts over the next few weeks. Keep up the great work.

    Hazel :)

    1. Hi Hazel,

Did you know that most of the class were really hoping for you to take us this year again. We were really sad you couldn't. We had Emma this time, but she's pretty cool too.
Well I actually quite like our National Anthem Better. Because it is in both English, Maori and Sign language. And I find it much more fun to sing, because it doesn't seem as formal.

      Have a Great Christmas!

  2. Hi Jedi,

That's very kind of you to say :) Unfortunately I was unable to come down to visit your cluster this year as I was teaching a class of my own up in Auckland until last Friday. I'll be online over the Christmas holidays, so I'll still be reading lots of Yaldhurst posts!

I agree about God Defend New Zealand being a better anthem. I really like that it is able to be sung in all three of our national languages.

    Have a lovely Christmas!

    Hazel :)
