For the past few weeks  here in Rimu calss we have been talking and learning about non chron reports. This week we have been doing work around, how to train your dragon race to the edge. We had to design our own dragon, draw a diagram and label it. Then next week we are going to write a non chronological report, based on our dragon. If you don't know what a non chronological report is, then why don't you check out my post on the six main things you need in a non chron report. Fantastic free writing

In rimu today, my writing group had a free writing session. This is the diary entry I have been working on, I haven't finished writing it. Why you should and should not be fined for missing school...

This week in rimu is hooked on books week! And it's has been so much fun so far, Especially since we read new and exciting books each day. My favourite so far is called Liars, you should totally dig through your local library for it. And I like it because it's kind of a mystery murder book. And I love mystery novels.  But anyways, today we read a book called "The goldfish boy" it was pretty good. But it wasn't my favourite. Well The main character in the book is called Matthew. and he doesn't go to school. This lead us onto an interesting writing unit. About how in the U.K your parents can get fined if you miss a day of school. And so we had to write a speech on that. Whether we agreed or disagreed.

And I was kind of in the middle. And above is a video of my speech. 

I found it really easy to write, because I love writing persuasive  speeches. And I have gone on to win awards for that.

Taking flight

                    

Every term in rimu we focus on a couple, of different genres of writing. The first few weeks of this term, we have been looking at recounts. I In week two we wrote a recount based on a, little clip we watched as a class.  Something I found really difficult was finishing my writing. Because I didn’t just write about the clip. I made up something to go just before the actual clip. You’ll get what I mean when you read my story. I also really think that I have improved during this session. Mostly because of all the diary entries I have written.

My reflection journal!! =)

Today in Rimu we all wrote reflection journals about the term. This is mine, please comment and tell me if I have done well or maybe there is

The whole term has been very fun and tiring all at the same time. Sometimes work was easy, and every other time hard. Each day with a news uprise. My favorite thing about this term was Maths because I find it very easy now. And also because I can understand it more. And I feel like I have seriously stepped up in my maths. I never ever thought I would be saying (or writing) this, cause I had used to always dread maths, or anything to do with fractions. And maths whizz had kind of made it easier for me because, when I would do a learning activity on maths whizz, and then did it in my maths group I understood it better than before.

Also, I think that I have shown my Hero qualities in and out of school. Especially at manual. During manual, I feel like I was mostly an E, because I was really enthusiastic about everything we were doing. Especially mandarin, I’ve always loved learning new languages. I’m learning six so far. My best friend Parwin Is teaching me Farsi. She is from Afghanistan and that is one of the languages they speak there.

Right now I can only think of two things that haven't really gone well for me. The first one Is my writing. Most long write sessions I cannot get 250 words in the time given. And when I do Get 250 or more, I am really not happy with my story, (like the most recent one I wrote “Waiting”). And the second thing that hasn’t gone well for me is kind of funny. It also just happened yesterday on the 5th of July. So basically Parwin (my best friend) and I were laminating certificates for the coloring competition. She would put it in the case and then pass it to me, then I would put it in the laminator. We were doing this for a while. Then when I had put the fourth one in it never came out of the other end, and there was this weird crunching noise coming from the machine. I had no idea of what to do except turn the thing off and run for the teacher. I had gotten Mrs. Rofee to come and check it out. And then they spent all afternoon trying to get whatever was in there out. Luckily Mrs. Tebbett had managed to pull it from the machine. And that really is the end of the story, I’m still yet to thank her.

And finally my Focus for next term. I think that my focus for next term is to always get my reward time. So basically I always want to have my work finished on time. This term was a blast. But I'm still looking forward to the school holidays.

Lunacorns!!! 🦄

This week in rimu we have been learning to write Non chronological reports. We had to write about a made up animal.This is one of mine, it is about Lunacorns. I found it hard writing a conclusion, so I just wrote some fun facts. I hope you enjoy reading. And please leave a comment on what I did well and what I could improve on. 😀

Lunacorns 🦄

Lunacorns, Also known as “ Unicorns of the moon”  are mythical creatures of Luna ( The moon). Some say that every Blue moon, they enter the Earth's atmosphere. To drink from the firefalls, which is located in the Northern Hemisphere.  There are many Tales of these mythical creatures that still roam today.

              Appearance

A Lunacorn can easily be mistaken for your regular unicorn. But a Lunacorn has many more features such as:

• Wings
• Hair that changes color according to its mood
  But otherwise they wood look like your average unicorn.

  Once every Blue moon a troop of Lunacorns enter the earth's atmosphere, and ride the aurora polaris to the drink from the fire falls. That is located in the northern hemisphere. At the crack of dawn the prepare to leave. Leaving the eldest (the leader) behind, for he is to weak to fly back.
  Luna corns mostly live in craters. Foals, are snuggled into several other holes, that are dug into craters,

  Lunacorns mainly live on the tropical fruit located on the Firefall island.
  Counting:
  • Mangos
  • Watermelons
  • Guava

  • A male lunacorn can lift  something ten times his weight
  And a Lunacorn can weigh up to 5 tonnes!
  • A luna foal’s poop is pink and smells like cherries!
  • A lunacorns wingspan can be up to three meters long!

🌊The Oceanmaker...

                                    The ocean maker

On the 6th of November, my class watched a video called Ocean maker. But we only got to watch half the video. We watched the first  half of the video and then wrote about it. But we didn't have to write the whole plain story. We had to make up some of it. 

 Here is my story, please give me some feedback on my writing. So I can improve my writing. Don't forget to tell me your favourite part!

It was a scorching hot day out on the ocean. The war had begun. I could here the red baron roaring like a tiger underneath me. I was nervous. In a distance I could here a storm brewing. Ohh! and it wasn’t just small gales. It was the mother of all storms. And she was moving towards the fighting grounds at an alarming rate.

And just as the storm hit me, I thought that I saw it pick up the water. And lifted it up, leaving nothing but a dry desert. I crashed onto the dry sand that was left behind....


I staggered towards a huge submarine wreckage. And hid there watching, waiting. Till one day there was less noise than before. But just to make sure I stayed in my hiding place a little longer.

As carefully as a mouse, I crept out of my hiding place. I was surrounded by parts of ships and planes. All deep in sand like chips with a thick coating of sauce. It was so quiet you could here a grape drop. There was a loud

Rumbling

              sound

                       coming

                                 from

                                       my

                                           tummy.

I was as hungry as a lion. Ohh! if only I had something to eat. And to make it even worse the sun was cooking me, like a chicken in a fire pit. I needed something that could shade me from the sun. But it needed to be something light. So I gathered all my strength and crawled towards a small piece of metal. Without thinking twice I picked it up. Ouch! bad move I had forgotten that it had been sitting out in the sun.

I dragged myself into the sub. Looking for some sort of portable shelter/shade. There was an old piece of metal in the corner. I struggled towards it, and then from the corner of my eye I saw something. It moved... dangerously edging towards me.........

Today I thought that I would try to post something different. Although I wasn't able to. And that's when I decided to use a site called Sumo paint. But then I stopped and thought why don't I make a slide about Sumo paint. So I did and here it is.  This slideshow will show you a cool and fun way to make art on sumo paint.

Laurens birthday

Hi my name is Jedi, in Kauri class we have been writing recounts about the holidays. I wrote about Lauren’s 10th birthday party. Her party happened at Mega Air. I had lots of fun at Mega Air and lauren’s house. Here is my recount...

Laurens Birthday at...

        

It all started on saturday the 8th of october Billie, Ella, Holly, Bryar, Sasha, Lauren Rihanna and I went to Mega Air for Laurens birthday party. When I got there  I was greeted by  Billie, her mum lauren and mum.
Lauren’s mum took Billie and me to the counter to get a wristband. You have to wear a wristband so all the staff at mega air will know that you have paid and booked for mega air. In every session  you will wear a different color band.
Then Billie and I walked into a room where a whole lot of other children were sitting at tables watching a safety video to learn about the rules at mega air.   
After the video we were taken to the trampoline area. There were a lot of trampolines. My favourite was the half pipe. The half pipe is a trampoline with to trampoline walls opposite each other that you have to bounce on to get to the end and back.                      




When our session had finished we drove to Lauren’s house for the rest of the birthday. When we got there we played pass the parcel, the jelly game and capture the flag.  But this is a different kind of capture the flag. Bryar





In this game there are two teams that have a flag each. Each team has to find a base and hide the flag there.


Then both teams have to find each other's flag that take it to your base without being seen. Before we played Bryar , Rihanna and holly went home. When we finished playing my dad arrived just in time to pick me up. I really enjoyed lauren's party it was exciting but I was tired.
